Solmaz is a registered social worker with a Masters of Social Work and has over 12 years experience working in diverse settings such as hospitals, mental health agencies, non-profit organizations and the private sector. In her work, she supports adults and youth who have experienced or are experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, confusion, anger management issues, suicidal ideation, relationship conflicts, difficulty in communication, grief, low self-esteem and self-confidence, and domestic violence.

She also has experience over the past 9 years of working with newcomers with mental health challenges, conducting assessments, and implementing treatment plans. She teaches clients to apply new coping strategies to help reduce the stress and anxiety of their settlement journey.

She also works closely with members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as those living with HIV+. She focuses on anti-oppressive and anti-racist approaches as well as recovery model.
